There are many swimming Pools that are constructed with the specific aim of installing a vinyl Liner and the picture is an example of that. Brick wall construction, often single brick, with a sand render finish. A poured concrete floor, normally about 80mm in thickness. When a vinyl liner ages and starts to leak, water is trapped between the liner and the pool construction. This often encourages tree roots to grow through the jet fittings and up through where the wall meets the floor. So you often see the outlines of these roots and is a clear indication the Liner is leaking.

Any imperfections or damage to the plaster is rectified at this stage to ensure the success in applying the fibreglass. The Pool plaster is pre coated with resin to ensure maximum adhesion and then the 5 layers of resin, fibreglass and final topcoat are applied with the finishing result depicted in the picture. It is vitally important that the plaster is allowed to dry when the liner is removed and no shortcuts taken in the process.

Mosaic tiles can be added to the waterline and additional steps or seats can be constructed to achieve a look that really suits your lifestyle. When you replace a vinyl liner with a fibreglass restoration you also minimise the potential for pool leaks which are commonplace with a liner and often costly to locate and repair. Fibreglass will often make the pool warmer due to its heat retention properties and is a very easy low maintainance option.
